Pay500 Program
Hello all...
Just checking out GMT Games, and they have a real interesting program setup...
They post up previews and a synopsis of games that have been on a back burner. Then, for a discounted price, they let gamers pledge to purchase them. You have to send a check or give a credit card number. Once the total number of gamers who have "pledged" to buy it reaches 500, the company goes ahead and performs the transaction and prints the game, sending copies to the gamers who pledged first. In the end, the company gets the money to do the first print run of the game from these pledges, and those gamers get their hands on the game first. The other printed copies of the game go out to distributors, and if they sell, that is complete pure profit.
Crazy, cool idea.
For small time guys, if you are looking to print your product, figure out how much it is going to cost. Charge a fee from gamers and send them an electronic version of the game. Once you have sold - say 500 - then you go ahead and print it and send the gamers their copies.
Cool!
