Are the range bands finite and bounded or do they in theory go on forever?  That is, if I am 7 range bands away from a skeleton (putting us at either end of the "map" of range bands), and I move back one range band, do I succeed and go "off the map" of 8 range bands, or would I be at the "edge" of the battlefield so that I can only move closer or stay put?

In theory they go on forever. So you could be 8, 9 10 bands apart or more.

However, the Antagonist is free to place a battle on a finite range strip if she wants to.
