I think you folks would be interested in Wolfgang Baur's endeavor with Open Design, which is essentially adventure design that is based on the patron model. Patron's stake anywhere from $30-$100 or more and are given access (and input AND playtest) to the adventure writing process. The adventures are a limited edition in that only patrons get a copy of the adventure.

When asked How did your vision for Open Design evolve? What did it take from you in order for it to see the light of day? Wolfgang replied:
"My original vision was born of reading about the writers, artists, and sculptors of the Renaissance, who were commissioned by various popes and princes to make art, write books, and so on. I figured that I might be able to do the same; speak directly to the audience and be funded directly by them, rather than having retailers, publishers, and distributors take all the profits while isolating the creative work from the audience.
I originally wanted it to be funded by a small group of millionaire gamers, but reality quickly made clear that the more likely option for doing design directly was a larger group...
