InMyth Seeks Browser-Based Developers & Designers

Team Name - InMyth LLC, a small two-man Georgia company founded in January to underpin our existing and continued works.

Project Name - 1) Starborn: Heritage 2) InMyth's Game Designer Platform (IGD)

Brief Description
InMyth's idea has been around since 2001, when Jeff created the model. In our model players are able to write collaborative stories (play-by-post rpgs) and tie their activity to game mechanics. The volume of material, not post count or another metric, is converted into money and experience points for character advancment. These systems work to tie-together the otherwise dijointed elements of typical browser-based gaming with meatier content.

Starborn: Heritage is the first "hosted" game we will be offering on our gaming platform, InMyth Game Designer (IGD) {Yes, very original name we know.} This game explores the potential of the development platform showing players and game-makers alike that developing their own game is easy and feature-rich.

Target Aim - InMyth's games are targeted for a browser based market, bridging the gap between low-interaction of most strategy browser-based games with the flexibility of major RPGs. Our software suite, the IGD platform, is a web-based manager to create and maintain games. Our target is to create a digital platform for game makers to create games where players are shared accross the network.

Compensation - We are offering ownership interest in InMyth LLC, presently the company has two owners, yet additional staff proven effective, competent, and dedicated will be provided stake in the company. Jeff and I bootstrap this from our own pocket-books, and additional developers will NOT be required to invest anything but time and passion. We can talk monetization strategies to those interested: we take a rounded approach to monetization.

Technology - We are looking for a diverse team, right now we have a business manager (myself), and a primary systems developer, both of which are versed in content writing. (Big plus if you enjoy the written word.) Note that this game and the systems are web (server) based. Additional areas of need follow:

Programming:
- AJAX
- Query
- PHP
- CSS
- MySQL (General database understanding)

Arts
- Photoshop (Digital Artwork or iconery)
- Concept art / Digital Painting: Painter X, Corel/Illustrator)
- 3D Graphics (3DSM, Maya, zBrush, other)
- Animation
- Sound Design? (Floor us with your ideas to incorporate sound.)

Experience:
- Browser Based Games
- Strategy Games
- RPG Game Systems (Looking for working knowledge of how to convert additional features to platform.)
- Simulation Gaming
- Table-top Game Design (Theory of translating between systems and into digital format.)

Talent Needed - We are looking for a wide range for staff, however some specific areas of need are:

Illustrator/Designer - this talented individual will be working with us to bring life to the largely text-based game. Engaging users through their 'windows' into the games and network.
Developer - Working closely with Jeff this individual will work to push the IGD forward, explore new systems ideas, and underpin the entire site.

Team Structure

InMyth's Team
Jeff Crosby - Lead Systems Developer (Jeff@Inmyth.com)
Matthew Smith - Business Manager (Matt@inmyth.com)

Other: We currently utilize a small volunteer team from the old game Jeff released, Vagrant Space. Their efforts will fill the roles of moderators, story guides, and the like - however such positions in our InMyth sponsored games may be migrated to full or intern positions once able.

Website Please explore the "soft" launch of the InMyth.com website and get a feel for the scope of what we are briefly over viewing here. I expect questions and lengthy discussion as we talk with those interested. I am looking for people willing to explore, and a lot of simple answers can be had on our site in few clicks.

Previous Work by Team - Jeff created the game model in 2001 at a site known as Vagrant Space, a sci-fi RPG. The WayBackMachine has a archive here: Vagrant Space - Wayback The site ran from 2001 to late 2004, growing steadily over the years.

Additional Info
Suggested reading is to explore the InMyth website, seeking info on both the company and on what we are aiming to do. Doing so you will be able to find additional history as well as windows into how we think as a business. We are looking to grow.

For the past year Jeff and I have worked largely in isolation, but now with the "soft" launch, opening the site to registration and fan-building we are interested in growing our team and moving faster. For tours and other in-depth interest into the "what" of the site, get in touch.

More than anything this is a great way to network with like-minded peers, we hope to find more capable thinkers.

Feedback - Response to this thread is welcome and encouraged:
