GenCon 2002 - THE MASTER LIST

Hello,

It's time to coordinate just a thing or two about GenCon.

People who will be staffing the booth and selling their games:
Jason Blair and me (obviously), as well as Todd Luikart; Ralph Mazza, Mike Holmes, Jake Norwood, Jared Sorensen, and Matt Gwinn.

People who will be staffing the booth but not selling their games (possibly giving out free ones though):
Josh Neff, Tom Fitch, Juergen Mayer, Scott Knipe, Gordon Landis, Paul Czege, Danielle (last name unknown), and Travis Farber.

People who won't have Forge badges but whose games will be sold:
Matt Snyder (Dust Devils)

People who won't be present but are sending some games to distribute for free:
Philippe Tromeur (Soap), James V. West (The Pool, The Questing Beast)

Please email me if you should be listed above but I forgot to include you. I am now making the Master List, so if you don't get in touch, you ain't on it.

Quite a few people have told me that they'll be getting one-day or two-day passes (or exhibitor badges from other companies) and spending play/demo/promo time at the Forge booth anyway. They include:
Julie Stauffer, Sean Wipfli, Terry Gant, Mario Bonassin, Matt Snyder, Seth ben-Ezra, and Dav Harnish.

Now for hotel stuff. Currently, I have only a very informal notion of who's planning to stay at the Forge hotel room(s). Confirmed folks for the whole con include:
Juergen Mayer, Jake Norwood, Camille Throckmorton, and Tom Luango.

Plus some people who'll be staying in the room(s) only for a night or two: Julie Stauffer, Sean Wipfli, and Mario Bonassin.

I suspect that a lot of people are planning to stay at the room(s) who haven't told me yet. Are any of the Michigan contingent (Scott, Danielle, Paul, Tom, Matt G) planning to do so? Or do you have your own? Get in touch by email.

If you were planning on staying at the hotel rooms reserved by me, and if you're not listed above, then contact me immediately. I won't hesitate to turn people away if they just show up looking hopeful.

All finances regarding the hotel rooms will be handled after the con.

Please don't gum up this thread with queries about flyers, cross-promotion with other booths, or anything besides the categories I've listed above.

Best,
Ron

I'm going to be at the GPA booth, but you guys look like you too are doing something really important. How can I help?

And is there any chance of a Forge party for doinner after the hall closes Thursday night (Friday and Saturday nights I'm running games)? I';d like to meet with some of you in a social setting, perhaps over dinner someplace moderately priced, and chew the fat about the game business (unless you;d all rather talk about baseball....).

Email, Michael, email. All those inquiries are great, but not on-topic.

We'll be doing lots of Forge hang-outs out of the exhibit hall, and I imagine that multiple impromptu games and business discussions will be occurring. I'll make sure to stay in touch with you, Eugene, and anyone else in other booths who will be interested in such things.

Best,
Ron

Talk of baseball in Milwaukee has been banned by ordinance for about three months now.

I'll talk about anything else, tho. :-)

As Ron said, Michael, these things tend to organize on the spot. Just keep your eyes and ears open.

I'm contributing MonkeyWrench to be distributed for free through my fearsome avatar, who looks remarkably like Jared A. Sorensen. It's just a double-sided photocopy (one side rules/one side char sheet).

Wow!

In an extraordinary fit of rationality, I have suddenly realized that the best, easiest, and most sensible thing to do with the exhibitor badges is ...

... to leave a list of names at the Con Staff booth just outside the exhibit hall! How incredibly functional - you go up, your name is on the list, you get a badge!

No more wandering aimlessly just outside the hall for no reason. No more pestering the security guy to send someone to the booth. Ah, reason.

Best,
Ron

Moose and I were wondering why you didn't do that last year.

Because the Secret Elder Gods of the Universe threatened to kill all of you if I did that, so to protect you all from being killed to death, I didn't.

Wasn't I a nice guy?

This year, you're on your own.

Best,
Ron

P.S. The above is a funny joke. The truth is that the whole badge situation/rules were repeatedly changed on the exhibitors last year, right up until the con started. Plus, we were a lot more catch-as-catch-can about who was and wasn't showing up last year. And finally, I didn't think of the Obvious Solution By Myself until just now.

Next time you and Scott arrive at the Obvious Solution for whatever, let me know - I need help doing that once in while.

I realize this is a woefully late response, but why is Philippe sending SOAP? *ponder*

!!

I mean, Ferry. Philippe = Wuthering Heights. Ferry = Soap.

Too many F noises in these names! And, and, too many Matts and Bens! And Mikes! Why can't you all just have bloody numbers?

Ron

That explains it. :)

I'll be changing my name to Tarquin Fin-tim-lim-bim-bim-bim-busstop-f'tang-f'tang-olé-biscuitbarrel quite soon though, that should clear everything up. ;)

I'll send you the PDF for SOAP somewhere this week. It's still not the finished rewrite, but at least it has art and it's functional. :)

I think the stress of GENCON prep is getting to ya Ron.

If I recall, it was you that requested everyone use their real names on the Forge. Personally, I'm waiting for a few more Rons to show up and mess everything up.

You know, I was thinking my J name is too confusing, what with Jared & Jason also being at GenCon. Perhaps I'll start going by my middle name...
