A Brace of Games
Just under a year ago, I decided that I had too many projects lying around that were incomplete. Most of them were ones that never generated much interest from other people when I talked about them.
Inspired by nanowrimo, I decided to set myself a challenge. I would write a new RPG in a month, and the RPG would be one from a number of choices voted on by my friends. It went well, and I even got to run it just after the month finished. It went so well, in fact, that I decided to take a month's break then write another under the same terms...
So, at this point I've got five of the things written and available for free. Now they've been released into the wild, I want more people to see them and, hopefully, comment on them so my future projects can be better.
Naturally, the extreme time pressure means there are flaws - embarrassing typos, etc. - but the main point of the exercise was to prevent me from continually going back and revising things and never declaring anything 'finished'.
If you'd like to take a look at any of 'em, they can be found here:

Holy crap, crawling for cash is 121 pages long!? How did you take what seems a somewhat derogitory title for the actvitity, and yet plow in that much effort?

The subject seemed to demand crunch. Crunch takes up a lot of pages, not to mention an unreasonable amount of effort. It was a struggle, for sure.

Hey Ben,
I found 3 - Unnatural Encounters back in December, browsing Lulu for RPGs while they were having their Christmas sale. I love the way you envision the cards working. I intend to organize a playtest.

Hi Ben,
Hey, I'm really digging these. I'm particularly gonna try to play Rivers & Lakes at the next opportunity.

It seemed like a neat way to handle player knowledge. I'm not convinced I've really done the idea justice- 3 is probably the one I was least satisfied with how it turned out, despite it being the one I was most enthusiastic about initially. It probably needs some wiser heads to tease the best out of it.

Let me know how you get on.

For anyone interested, the latest one, Warlord's Wager, has just gone up.
