This is a pretty specialized forum at the Forge, but it's arguably the most important in practical terms. Topics should go here if they concern a role-playing game which is (i) not yet published and (ii) has in fact received any playtesting.

As a related point, once your game has received any playtesting, don't start any threads about it in First Thoughts. It's done with that forum forever, at that point.

Topics here include, but are not limited to, accounts of actual play, discussions of further design, and simple reports about how things are going as long as they're substantive in some way. Also, you don't have to be the designer in order to post about a game which qualifies for this forum.

When you reply to a thread in this forum, please keep in mind that you are not the designer, and it's not your job to tune or turn the game more toward your tastes in role-playing. It's crucial instead to understand what kind of experience the designer is aiming for, and to support that goal with your feedback. Sometimes the most valuable discussion is simply learning what that intended experience is.

Final point: please do not use this forum to seek playtesting for a game. You should post in the Connections forum for that purpose.

Best, Ron
