I'm in the processes of playtesting my new project "FUBAR".

Here's the basic splat...

You've been screwed...

At least one person wants you dead...

The only people you almost trust are people who don't necessarily trust you...

but you've got skills and talents that might just get you through...

...might just let you get some revenge...

...and might let you achieve your destiny.


and a basic rundown...


Fubar is a low-preparation role-playing game focusing on a group of talented individuals who have been betrayed by the people they trust.

Using the Cyberpunk ethos of "Style over Substance" it provides a rough framework to tell a tale of revenge, deliberately leaving out certain key elements so that players can customise their game at the start of each play session. Character creation is quick (a name, four words and a sentence describing a goal) but as a game session progresses, these outlines are coloured and shaded to reveal complex figures desperately seeking vengeance and redemption.


The game is freely downloadable from my website, and while it seems fairly robust at the moment, any external playtesting or advice would be highly appreciated.

I'll be looking to produce physical copies of the book shortly (in a comic book size/format), and people who help out with playtesting may be sent copies (depending on how useful their input was and how many I can afford to send out at the time).

Looking at "FUBAR Lite" right now, but v2 doesn't seem to download. You might want to check on it....

Just thought I'd share with everyone that FUBAR v3.2 is now available.

After some playtesting, and some comments from readers, I've streamlined a few aspects of the system, clarified some other parts and added some features to reflect the type of story that I feel the game is suited to telling.

My first playtests with the system seem to be running smoothly, but at this stage everyone I've played with is familiar with the style of game I usually run. It won't be seriously tested to it's limits until later in the year when I run the game at a local convention.

Please, download it, critique it. Tell me what makes sense and what doesn't. Just remember that it's not designed to be the ultimate game for every situation, just a quick diversion for playing out current and near-future tales of revenge.
