A generic supernatural powers system

Hello guys,

I'm designing an RPG system which is supposed to be generic. Therefore I would like to develop a system for supernatural abilities that could be used for any kind of supernatural power (magic, divine magic, mutations, PSY, etc...) without modifying the rules (maybe just giving different explanations about where the power come from, depending on the setting, but the rules would remain the same).

Once the characters' features in this system are divided into Attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Charisma, etc.), Skills (Animals treatment, Musical Instruments, History, Knives, etc.) and Advantages/ Disadvantages, my first thoughts are that if you want to use a supernatural power, you have to buy an advantage and this advantage gives you some points to distribute among some "lines" of powers, like Protection, Movement, Mental Control, Destruction, etc. Each of the "lines" would be divided into levels, and each level would show what you can do (with Movement level 2, for example, you would be able to move anything weighing less than 20 ponds at up to 10 km/h, etc.). When you use a supernatural ability to create a supernatural effect, you have to spend some "super energy", and then recover then later.

The difficult is creating a system of "lines" suitable for any kind of supernatural force. What do you guys think about that?

it's been done in Ars Magica and Mage the Ascension.  So you might look at those

I'd have to second the idea of looking at Mage: the Ascension...I've run some awesome superhero campaigns using that as a generic super power system.
