We're planning a Call of Cthulhu "tournament" scenario at this year's HammerCon (November 6th, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada). The convention is a community organized and volunteer-based event, with a focus on celebrating play rather than trade, but despite us being a grassroots effort with meager corporate backing we always aim for professional production quality in what we do.

This year, we're looking to run a classic CoC tournament for 3 or 4 concurrent tables of 4-5 players each (plus Keepers), who will compete with each other in areas of problem solving / investigation and entertaining roleplaying / character acting to roughly equal degrees.

For this purpose, we require an original scenario based around traditional CoC investigation activities, written for a convention format (roughly 3-4 hours in length) with highly entertaining and interesting characters. The writer we select to write this scenario for us will get writer's credit as well as their selection of ~ $100 MSRP of new Chaosium products from our convention library.

Our default preference is as classic as possible: Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu 6th Edition, 1920s. We also want something that anyone can participate in regardless of their prior experience with the Mythos, so the "newbie" experience is important. We'd need your synopsis by August 15th at the latest, from which we'll pick our writer and notify by September 1st. Your final manuscript would be due on October 10th. We'd like to make the scenario available under a Creative Commons International Share-Alike Attribution license.
