Help with Game Idea: The Tale Of The Tears
I'm not sure if this should go here, but it's info on a game I'm creating. I'll move this post if it should be somewhere else.
Please offer suggestions, I'd really like to see this game be the best experience for the players.
If I'm doing anything wrong, please tell me...
The Tale Of The Tears
Game Specs
- Fantasy
- Cross-Platform
- Free... for now. It depends on the game's popularity
- 3D, good texture quality
- RPG
- Multiplayer
- Always getting patched
This is my first big RPG project. It uses a lot of the RPG standards, but it's unique in a few ways:
- NPC's:
Every single NPC is important in his/her own way. Except for the guards.
Every NPC has a backstory, and I'm thinking a couple hundred people.
Every NPC has something slightly different to say every time.
- Quests:
No quest is pointless. Every quest has some purpose to it.
Quests range from helping somebody cross a road to facing dragons in the midst of a great battle
Quests almost always come with phasing
- Zones:
You wont have to spend 3 hours to get to the next town to hand in a quest with no reward.
Zones are pretty close together. Otherwise you can ride there, take a boat there, fly there, or get an escort there.
No zone is unimportant. Except the PvP zones.
A lot of things here may be different or similar to different RPG's you've played, but just hear me out.
- PvP:
No PvP servers.
You can flag yourself as a duelist, which means anybody can kill you
If you use any actions on a flagged duelist, you become a duelist too (eg Heals or Fight)
Some places force you to become a duelist.
- Factions:
For most of the races, you can choose which faction you want to be.
Once you choose your faction, it is VERY difficult to get back up with the other faction, and doing so will make your main faction hate you.
Any faction that sees you can kill you on the spot, except for in starting zones and cities that belong to your faction, or a neutral faction.
- Realms
There is only one realm. Many people host this one realm. There are different servers, but in the end, they connect all to one single realm. It will take a bit of work, but it shouldn't be hard. It's just for the sake of bandwidth and a larger server.
You can connect to the main server via LAN. You can connect, one of you hosts a server, the other of you connect.
To host, contact me. Not yet, though.
There is a very big amount of races and classes. They are:
- Races:
Elves
Humans
Gnomes
Dwarves
Centaur
Satyr
Ogre
Demons:
Imps
Harpies
Corrupted People
Doomlord
- Classes:
Priest: Priests are good at casting and healing themselves
Monk: Monks heal and use melee attacks
Cleric: Clerics Heal and cast
Assassin: Assassins attack very quickly with melee
Druid: Druids can heal, cast, and shapeshift
Barbarian: Barbarians have a lot of strength, health, and armor
Knight: Knights fight defensively, and can take a lot of damage
Mage: Mages are very strong casters
Demonic: Demonics are good at casting, and they rely on demons and shadow spells
Shaman: Shamans are good at casting, taking damage, and transforming
Champion: Champions can heal, take damage, and deal damage
Dark Fighters: Dark Fighters cast at melee range, take damage, and can heal themselves
Guardian: Guardians are exceptionally strong, but basically suck at all of their other stats.
There are some nice things in the attribute system.
It goes as like a class ability system. Each one has four paths, one ability page, and whichever path you choose you have only enough ability points to invest in one tree and a few starters.
- Each type of ability has different values:
One point only is ALWAYS a spell
Two points is a Passive Ability
Three Points is a skill increase
5 Points is a spell or general spells increase.
