I have what seems like a simple question about impairment, but I can't find a clear answer to it.

Here is a simple Athletics contest:

The heroes are challenged to a footrace up a mountain to light a signal fire that signals the beginning of festivities. The heroes all carry torches, and the first hero to reach the mountain peak and set aflame the beacon wins glory. The mountain is steep and rugged, so 1 Strife will be spent (2d6 + 2d8).

Let's say there are five heroes.

One hero is the clear winner, beating the Antagonist with the highest roll. He is first to the beacon and wins 3 Glory.

Two other heroes roll higher than the Antagonist, reaching the beacon after the first, each winning 1 Glory.

Two heroes roll lower than the Antagonist. They are overcome by the mountain and win no glory.

Who is impaired? All four of the "losers"? Or only the two heroes who were beaten by the Antagonist?

Now that I think about it, can impairments be gained in contests to gain advantage?

I'm full of questions. How do you score Glory for winning simple contests against named NPCs? It seems too high to give the full value of Strife spent on the NPC to the highest roller.

Hi!

post 1) Only the two heroes who were beaten by the Antagonist.

post 2) I don't think so, but, in a contest between heroes only (and without Antagonist), all the losers gets the impairment.

post 3) For this, you have to "convert" the dice rolled by the NPC in Strife. One Strife for each "die advancement", like in a Simple Contest against the Antagonist.

...but there was some time since my last Agon play, so let's wait for other advices... ;-)
