Arming glove question
Did anyone come up with the statistics for arming gloves (I could find anything about them)?
Or do they simply act as "quasi-bucklers" for gaming purposes?
Thanks,
Akos

this is just my take....
From the desription i'd assume the were AV 4 (~chain mail)
and i'd use the stats for HAND found on page 256 TROS
ATN 5 DTN 6 DAM ST-1b if you punch with it (equal to iron Knuckles)
hope this was what you were looking for.

Thanks.
I thought of similar solution, but I was interested in the opinions of others.
I assume you can use the arming glove for off-hand parries and bind and strike attacks.

Yes but i assume youve read the comments about parrying with your hand..
An arming glove doesn't change this, just adds an armor value...

I do believe that the arming glove allows you to parry thrusts without damaging your hand. It is parrying a cut with your hand that risks damage, and is where the armor factor of the glove comes into play. Also, it is only AV 4 against strikes directed at the hand. If you use it to parry a cut, it has a reduced AV of 3. My guess is that the chain links which cover the palm are thinner and finer, allowing better movement.
Other than that, John's stats are pretty much as it was decided by Jake. Also, the cost of an arming glove is, I believe, about half that of a set of gauntlets...
Err, wait. I've just looked at the stats for a gauntlet.. And it only has an AV of 3. I would think that an arming glove would have a reinforced backing as it is intended as an actively offensive, but I would think the cost would be more than a single gauntlet, as well.
Anyone?

Actually you can parry a thrust from a rapier with your bare hand and can get away with parrying a thrust from an edged weapon with a gloved hand. The maille is there to protect your hand from getting skewered.

Yes, an arming glove can be used by its wearer as an offensive weapon, just as a shield can, or a cross, pommel, knuckle bow... And even mailled and harness gauntlets. Which are pretty much the same thing except for the maille on the inside...
