Introducing myself

Hello

I'm Philippe Tromeur and I'm living in France (in Brest, the city at the end of the world). In fact, I'm French, which explains some bizarre grammar & style when I write in English, I hope you don't care.

I own (and play) a lot of "independant" (and formerly independant) RPGs including HeroWars (I'm starting a Pavis campaign this summer), Maelstrom, Nobilis and others.

I'm the author of "Wuthering Heights", which is an adapatation of "René le jeu de role romantique", a game on which I've been working on since 1988 (and playtesting since 1998).
The game is minimalist and short, and I'm always trying to keep it that way.

The French version is longer, and has just been published as a special issue of a French fanzine (http://chrysopee.free.fr/)
I'm also on a number of unfinished or very short projects (Fous l'Contact, Projet Garichankar, M I L ...), and I'm very interested into game design and original systems (http://philippe.tromeur.free.fr/freeform.htm).

I sometimes post on htttp://www.rpg.net, expressing my French chauvinistic feelings, my dislike of D&D3 (and some other rules-heavy systems) and other uninteresting subjects.
I hope I'll do the same here.

Salut Philippe !

Welcome here !

And to anyone who hasn't checked out "René" or the english version... it's worth it. A pretty unique game.

I think Ron mentioned in another post that he'll be playing (& then reviewing) Rene/Wuthering Heights soon.

He did. He hasn't posted the (very positive) review yet, but I've seen it.
That's one of the reasons why I registered here, because I hope there will be some feedback.

By the way, I'm working on a new version of "wuthering heights" pdf document, with some advice, some precisions , a Tragedy...
A first draft is available here : http://perso.wanadoo.fr/philippe.tromeur/files/wuther-save.pdf
The final "beta" document should be 24-page long, once I've completed it.

I loved Wuthering Heights. I "ran" the game with Ron, and I must say, once you just toss the idea out there, the game runs itself. I just got to sit back, watch, and attempt really bad European accents. And by god, I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.

Hey Philippe, Dav, Ron,

Wuthering Heights is one of the games from the Forge Library that I've been interested in for a while, so much so that I previously started developing a plug-in style modification for a scenario I might run with the game (which I just detailed in the Indie Game Design forum). But one worry I had about the game was having a situation where players want to resist believing things they've been told by other players who haven't made the effort to roll under Despair to be sincere.

Have you found players making a lot of wisdom checks to avoid believing stuff when you've played?

Thanks,

Paul
