How many of you have already done your taxes for 2002?
Last year it was my tax refund that essentially paid for my trip to GenCon, and this year will be the same.In between the US government and the State of Oregon I'm getting close to $1600 back. The probable reason is that I was collecting unemployment for much of 2002 and my job (which I recently lost) earned me only a little bit more from working than I lost at Seraphim Guard. Being a Sole Proprietor, I was able to file a Schedule C and itemize my expense classes.
Mind you, I am now in desperate fear of an audit. The Bush Administration and the IRS hate people who don't have taxable income in a year and would probably love the opportuntiy to throw me in jail for ten years.
So if there are no problems I get a substantial amount of my expenses paid for, but if I have problems I'm in deep trouble....

I would seriously start looking at Brazillian real estate if I were you.

Hello,
Michael, pay no attention to Jared (Jared, you primate!).
I do, however, suggest that you consult with an accountant. That's what I do, because I'm kind of helpless and stupid when it comes to business taxes.
Best,
Ron

I've been reassured
I've been reassured by people experienced with business taxes that I will NOT be audited. That's the good news.
The bad news is that I won't get the money until the end of March at the earliest. I'm worried that might be too late.
