After looking through octaNe, I think its the perfect IRC game.
The back-and-forth action resolution system is perfect for the back-and-forth nature of IRC. The system of total and partial control can be used to figure out who says what, in what order. I don't think I've ever seen a game that's so well-adapted to chat-based play.

Problem is, I don't know anyone else who owns this game. So how about it? Anyone interested in doing octaNe online?

Oooooh, me, me, me!!!

Ahem! I mean, yes, I would be interested. And I have a copy of the game. Though truth be told, I was able to make up a character over ICQ for a friend who didn't own the game pretty easily.

I've never played a game online before, but this sounds fun.

If you can tolerate teaching me me the basics, I'd like to play.
