Broken Lands-campaign idea

Little Hope

Unite or Die

The premise is that Tzaul, finally united and still under the chokehold of Otamarluk, seeks to expand its power to the point where it can finally acheive freedom. In an astute political manuever, Tzaul's leader, Viggo the Blade, amasses a large military force(conscripts from the people he's conquered) and sends them south to Kudara, in order to reduce the amount of potential rebels in his own land and at the same time aquire greater resources to acheive his people's independence. At the same time, he can claim its a holy war and request support from the Emir.

Meanwhile, down in Kudara, somebody(either a PC, or someone the PC is following) gets wind of this army amassing, and decides to unite the kingdom before the onslaught...Of course there will be delays for Tzaul, but it simply serves as the ticking timebomb for the players to race against. The entire campaign is the battles, politics, and struggles to unite the people, or be eliminated in the face of a desperate enemy...

Interesting areas for conflict:
•How far are the PC's willing to go, in terms of amorality in order to save their people? Will the methods they use be just as bad as the invaders? Worse?
•The other warlords of Kudara may be just as noble. Can the players win them over, or will they take them out just like anyone else?
•Some of their allies may be less than noble...Can the players keep them in check, eliminate them, or will the corrupt ones make a power play/cost them in the end?
•And of course, after all is said and done...will they be able to stop the flood from the Tzaul army?

Any comments?

Chris
