Many of the books, such as Secrets of German Swordsmanship and the Arte of Defense, have step-by-step photos of weapon useage.

The German book has great sword, sword and buckler, wrestleing, wrestleing in armor, spear to spear in armor, sword to spear in armor, sword to sword in armor, wrestleing in armor, and sword, lance, and wrestleing on horseback. Yeah, the author definately has a thing about wrestleing. However, the maneuvers just write themelves as you read.

The Arte is more on the rapier, but it is still excellent.

The basic TROS mechanics were taken from exactly this kind of stuff (though most of these particular books weren't available at the time, the original non-interpereted manuscripts were). The German book is really nice, though the interperetations lack intent or proper physics. Still worth owning--it's one of my favorite general rescources, and easy to use thanks to the photos and side-by-side translation and interp.
