On to my second copy
Well, I had to do it. I couldn't find my copy anywhere, so i ordered a second copy of the Dead Tree Edition from Z-Man games, paying full price.
The payment has not gone through, so if someone feels the need to intervene somehow, like block the shipment because I don't deserve a copy, they can do it.
I have not gone to my FLGS since CAH was released, so I don't know whether they got it.
I'm really sorry I lost that copy. It was important for me to learn this game and I was so looking forward to playing it.

To update: Z-Man games has, according to paypal, recieved my money. I have no idea how long delivery takes, so I don;t know when or if I'll have my hands on my replacement copy.
You would be within your rights to keep the money and not send me a book, you know. Carelessness should not be rewarded....

**Michael:
You paid for a replacement copy - why wouldn't you get one? It should be leaving Monday or Tuesday (we're expecting another freaking snow storm so I don't know if I'm staying home or not - that will determine when your and other orders will go out).

Because I don't deserve one?
Seriously, why reward someone who loses what should be one of the trophies of his collection by allowing him to easily replace it? Why sell a new copy to me when there is someone else out there who is more deserving of this copy than I am?
I think I should not have even ordered that book. Much as I want it, I don't deserve it. Merit would suggest that I do not get to be part of this community any longer.

Dude, it happens. We all lose things, and we all make mistakes. It's all good! ;-)

And mistakes must be punished. Paying for a book and not getting it would be a fitting punishment, so go ahead and don't ship the book. You can keep the money -- you need it. I'd only lose the book again.
Besdies, self-denial and self-punishment are good things. It's not like I'm entitled to anything anyway.

Michael, don't be so down on yourself. I've lost a LOT more. Like the time I lost my entire 40K army at a con back in '94. That was much, much worse as I had about $1200 wrapped up in it.
Like Eddy said, stuff happens. Don't fret it.

I had nothing but bad stuff happening to me all week. I personally deserve all the bad karma I get, and non-delivery would be only the tip of the iceberg.
After all, I've already been through a car wreck and the end of my convention career. Losing out on my chance to get a game is only a minor streak of bad karma.

Update: Zev sent me a note indicating he's shipped my copy. which means I'll have TWO copies of the game that I'll know where are, because before I got that note I picked up a copy at an FLGS in Aloha 9a suburb of Portland). That's how I was able to do my Lina Inverse writeup.
I'm wondering what to do with my second copy when it arrives. I can always keep it as a backup (what vanished once can vanish again), or use it as my traveling copy while I keep a copy at home, secure on my shelf, for reference.
Boy, am I embarassed by all this.

Hey, look at it like this, Michael...
You've bought *3* copies from Cindi, Zev, & Company. :] And every sale counts, and helps insure we'll get more fine products :]
I saw a copy at my FLGS (Comic Heaven in WIlloughby, Ohio :)), but as I have a copy coming from Z-man, and I don;t have the $$ for it now... I'm hoping that once I get my copy, I can run a couple games and convince the boys to buy that copy :]

Some folks are "Glass Half Full" folks
Some folks are "Glass Half Empty" folks
Some folks are "I dropped my glass on the floor, it broke, and the water spilled all over my mint condition Issue #1 Spider Man" folks.

Jared's lying, of course; he doesn't feed his children.
Michael, why did you buy a copy at your local shop when you had one coming in the mail? Did you honestly think Zev would just stiff you on your copy?

Reason 1: I had an urgent writeup that required rules that were only in the book and I needed the book right away.
Reason 2: I didn't know Zev had shipped the book at the time. After all the to-do over here, I was under the impression that he would withold the book and either refund or keep my money, as I came close to directly asking him to do on several occasions. (As a matter of fact, I believe I did ask him to not send me the book but keep the money. Mind you, I was quite shaken up at the time.)
Reason 3: Sheer impatience. I saw it on the shelf and it was an impulse buy. I had a choice between buying it and buying Uruesia (which I had also preordered but which is apparently being lost in the mail or inCustoms every time GOO tries to ship[ it to me) and I chose CAH.

By the way, the copy that Zev sent me arrived a few days ago. At about the same time, the copt I bought locally got eaten by my apartment. So I now have a copy on my hself, and at least one more on my floor somewhere if not two.
I'm your CAH source, it would appear.

The saga continues....
Last week i went through a thorough housecleaning, and guess what i found -- another copy of CAH! So now I have two copies sitting on my shelf.
Now I think you should buy your copy of CAH from Z-Man Games. But nwo I know I have the extra. How do I make good use of it?
