Reading the reviews, I can't quite tell, but how fast does advancement occur? I mean, if you are spending and refilling your SA, how quickly do characters advance?
I realize it depends on the campaign, and how often your SA is triggering, so thats kind of variable, but I am trying to get a handle on the speed of character advancement here.

That entirely depends on you (as Seneschal/GM, I mean).
Hand out SA's like candy and your players will advance pretty quick. Hand out only a few points per session, and they'll advance slowly.
Sorry, I can't really give you a more straight answer than that :-)

I have seen my players advancing things on their second session, but it slowed down somewhat since then to an Attribute increase of some sort once every four sessions. Skills increase a little quicker for a bit, but not much.

One of the important things to note about skills is that you don't get that little tick every time you use a skill, it's only when you use one under duress or when the outcome is really important.
Otherwise you'll find some characters improving certain skills one level every single session. Of course, if you're running a limited session campaign or a one-shot that might be the way you want to run things, but in a longer campaign it's not a good idea, because after a while players skills will start to bottom out at 3 and then they can't improve them from there, which tends to irk players.

What's the nature of the concern, Morf? If we know why you asked, we might be able to respond more coherently? Are you worried that characters will become way more powerful very quickly? Or that they'll take a long time to get to some point in development?
It's very in genre, the development in that the characters start as poteentially heroic. There's no wait at all. Thus "development" is really not all that important. It's more important by far how your SAs change than what abilities are increased by spending them, for example.
Does that help at all?
