Gen Con Sorcerer Games
This thread game me an idea.
I would like to play a 3-session game of Sorcerer at Gen Con (yes, I realize that this won't really happen, but I want to pretend). On each night a new GM would take over, but it would be the same story with the same kickers. The previous GM leaves his notes for the next, who may or may not do something radically different. In this way everyone gets to play (including Ron), and we get to se a few really gifted GMs at work.
It sounds to me like a great experiement only possible with several "skilled" and enthusiastic players--perfect for a gathering like GenCon.

I will add in general - if there are people who want to "prep" for a Adept Press (or whatever) game experiment before GenCon, and then conduct that experiment at GenCon - that sounds very cool to me.

I'm for it. I'm even interested in having it be public, which is to say, lots of people as observers.
Best,

What Ron really means to say is, "Naked."

Nope. I don't want to play Demon Cops. I veto! I want plain-old-vanilla sorcerer! NAKED!

Sorry - Demon Cops it is. Pay up $5 already.

Now I'll have to look Demon Cops over. It could be cool, I guess. Who said you were GM anyway?

Uh, what's the one-page on "normal" Sorcerer look like, Jake? There are Sorcerer games that aren't "weird"? :-)

Yeah, I know. I think I just want something out of the print books that isn't a mod. I've done the sengoku thing, and the Sorcerer and Sword thing...
I want to play a regular arrogant disfunctional guy that summons demons in downtown miami.

All right, already.
1. Modern day Sorcerer.
2. Set in Miami.
3. Jake's the first GM. (I'll be dibs on #2)
4. Three sessions of play.
5. Don't fuck it up some way.
Who else? I suggest four people total.
And this means that Jake has to helm the whole "customization" process like I did in the Art-Deco discussion. Jake?
Best,
Ron

No experience? Hmm. Alexander has some small experience, but I think his reticence makes him eligible. Can he play if we bug him into doing it? :-)
Mike "dissapointed to be experienced" Holmes
P.S. Are any players GMing? Or are the GMs a different set of participants?

Hi there,
No speaking up for others, Mike. They have to sign on their ownselfs.
As I understand it, three of the four participants will be the sequential GMs. Is that what you meant, Jake?
Best,
Ron

That sounds perfect.
And a pink bikini, huh? Is it a demon to? Does the yellow book cover that, Ron? Does it have rules for traps? Or for Hostages? Or encumbrance? I think you SUCK!!!
Oh, wait, um...
This is looking fun. I'm kinda getting stoked about this game, now. Vincent--you gonna be at GenCon? Julie - do you GM?

Some experience?
I've watched one (just one) game on IRC, which totally confused me because it was difficult to follow. Also, I've posted on the boards. I'm not sure if any of that is counted as play experience. :)
I wouldn't mind participating, but this is my first GenCon and I think I wound up signing up for too many scheduled games. It'd probably be quite a chore to work around the schedule of games I wound up glutting myself with.
(I've never been to a con where you had to sign up for games in advance before, so I signed up under the assumption that it would be difficult to find games otherwise. Turns out I was wrong.)

Jake, yep, I'm gonna be there. Despite the best efforts of the demons in charge of cars being expensive to replace.
Alexander, you've got dibs as far as I'm concerned, but if you don't want it...

Not being qualified is part of the point, I think. As part of the experiment is seeing how people handle Sorcerer differently, someone who stumbles through the game would be a learning experience just as much as the GM who knows Sorcerer well because he wrote it.
I'd love to have the dibs. I just don't want to inconvenience others by having them bend to my schedule. So, if they're unwilling or unable...

Jake, Julie, me, and Vincent. Jake, explain the GM thing again. Are we the GMs too, or are they other people?
Best,
Ron
P.S. Julie GMs. She's the Le Mon Mouri lady, remember?

No, Mike, the character's in the pink bikini. It's the players that are naked, or maybe I'm just confused about that bit.
I've *only* GM'd Le Mon Mouri which I don't think qualifies me as a "gifted GM" that Jake requests in his first post, but I'm game.
I guess this means I should actually plan to attend GenCon now.

The expriment is that there is a different GM every night, who is either a player or an observer for the other two sessions.
The group makeup sounds fine. Shall we play in the booth? Or would it be better to play without so much distraction, and have us available to pimp our games? Probably the latter.
I'll be wearing a pink bikini, too.

Sign me up for some observing. As much as I admire Sorcerer, and steal bits in any way I can . . . between irrational dislike of dice pools and lack of experience in effects-based Champions point-buy (only little bits of Mekton are effects-based), trying to actually play is frankly overwhelming. But I've gotten some folks around here intersted in Demon Cops, so . . .
Like I said, some observation.
