Ok...

I've been fooling around with the Character generator, and now i'm confused on something.

IF I, say, raise Sword and shield, eventually it will trigger the default on mass weapon and shield, and raise its value up. I can then turn around and raise it some more beyond the default without starting from scratch.

This is intended, right?

Now, here is the kicker. I then went and raised mass weapon and shield from its default level until it triggered the default of... sword and shield, raising it up higher.

Is this intentional? Can you leapfrog around, raising weapons and defaults off each other in this kind of almost vampiric fashion?

Thanks.

Offhand, I can't see any reason not to. You're not getting a cost-saving in doing so, and if the default applies, it doesn't really matter how you got the score it's based on.

I believe Jake has once said that once you've begun raising a proficiency the conventional way, it cannot be raised as a default anymore. Also note that some limit defaults to a maximum 5, as this was mentioned somewhere in the first edition of the book.

The maximum is actually 6, I think.

Nah, thats bollocks.

Defaults represent training in one style benefiting another. How can it really make a difference if I get a level of 2 in a style from a default first and then train 2 more, or if I train 2 points and then train in another style getting two more as default. In either case its the same level of training and the same level of knowledge from other sources.

All default limits are 6 also. You keep saying 5 and we keep correcting you :-)

Huaraz Brian.
