I've make a post over on the Burning Wheel forum about adapting the Riddle of Steel combat and spiritual attribute mechanics to the Burning Wheel RPG. Anyone who has both games that may have comments, or is interested in chiming in, please feel free to follow the link.

I guess you're not getting any replies because not many folks here at the RoS Forum have heard of The Burning Wheel. I know that your post here is the first I've heard about the game. I followed the link, but haven't had the time to look into the rules much. The combat and the SA's of TRoS are really cool features about this game, but there is a lot more to it that you might find to your liking as well.

I hope you like what you find.

Also the board seems to quieted down a bit since I last was posting here. The Burning Wheel is another interesting Indie game published by a man named Luke Crane. The core mechanics are rather solid, character creation is a blast, and the magic is more suited to the type of campaign I like to run. The problem arises with the combat rules. A round of combat (a few seconds) needs to be scripted (written out) in advance. This does not seem intuitive to me, or my group, which for the most part prefers TROS combat. I'm trying to take the best of both words, as I own both games.

Since I know several people on this forum own both games, I wanted to open a discussion about the possibility of using the two systems together.

Anyone who wants to find out more about Burning Wheel should check out their Indi forum.

Claymore-

I actually began reading the Burning Wheel today, before seeing this thread. It's a very solid system thus far, and I'm impressed with how thorough it is. I haven't but looked at the combat system, but hybriding TROS combat into the core BW mechanic looks pretty functional.

Wow, thanks so much for your comments Jake! Any thoughts you might have after reviewing the rules would be greatly appreciated.

For the money, Burning Wheel is a very solid game. The combat rules are just not to my liking and I think TROS would compliment the game. My initial thoughts are to add the reflexes attribute to your dice pool, along with forking in a few related combat skills. This would create a similar pool size to TROS, so I wouldn't have to tinker with the combat tables (not something I want to tackle). Since BW already does something similar with magic (adding your Willpower to your Sorcery skill), I really don't feel I'm breaking the system.

Hi folks,

Claymore, Valamir and I have been hashing out the possibilities of a Riddle of Burning Wheel almalgam/conversion. Basically using the BW core mechanics with ROS style combat resolution and wounds rather than the BW scripting and IMS.

If anyone's interested (I know I am!) you can pop over:
