TROS character submissions
I was playing around with Brian's TROS CharGen program, and I thought it would be neat if people could swap characters back and forth or download them via the TROS website. Therefore, I'm now taking submissions for characters of quality that are fully finished out for the CharGen program. Please send a short text describing the character for potential downloaders in the email. Send them to norwood@theriddleofsteel.net

That's a really good idea. I'll look forward to seeing those.

Oh boy, this will be fun! do you want each Character in a separate email or should I just send them all in the same email in seperate attachments?
And someone bug mayhem and tell him to submit mortimer the faithful, that guy rocks!

You can throw them all in one email, so long as they have descriptions.

hmmm... One of the ones I made up on the CG using the "new" (seneschal) option (he was a paper and pen creation from before the CG) is AWOL. It says it saved but it is no where to be seen, I tried this twice to no avail...
Any ideas what the prob might be?

hmmm... I did that and guess what happened.. nothing! I did find out what happened though, although I told it to save as "gareth" it just saved over one of my other characters instead. I have no clue why. anyways, it did this even when I told it to save to another location. Very bizarre. so thats what happened. I already sent you the character though jake, so enjoy.Let me know when and where these are ending up.

Jake, I can't get the chargen to work on my computer.. Is there some way I could still submit a character?

Ashren - very odd, I'm not sure why that would have happened. I'll have a look over the code and see if I can work it out.
Draigh - What's the problem? I'm sure we can work out why it's not working for you.
Brian.

Brian: I don't think the chargen is busted or anything like that, the problem stems from the computer... but manifests in the number of forms that are on the skills and proficiencies pages. That's what's holding it up.
please note: this comp is a total POS and very prone to the blue screen of death.

Ah, fair enough. I assume BSOD = WinNT too, which is also a problem - the software wasn't designed for such an old OS.
Yeah, there are a lot of forms on those pages. If I do a V2 of the CharGen, I think I'll reorg the skills page (at least) so as to have a series of pulldowns and scores rather than implicitly having every available skill listed on screen, that would cut down on the overhead you mention and also allow the user to add custom skills etc very easily. Ah, hindsight.
Brian.

for those of us who can't get the chargen to work, would anyone be willing to chargen-ize a character for us? I'd be willing to send a writeup and background, etc.

I'll do a couple. Least I can do since it's my CharGenm that you can't get working. :-)
PM me. First in first served, I'm only prepared to do a few.
Brian.
p.s: I'm gutted nobody found my easter eggs yet (or at least hasn't mentioned it, anyway). They took me ages to put in... :-)

Is the submission date open ended on these? I have a lot of characters left over from my campaign that I could do up in the char gen format and send in.
