Maximum Proficiency?

Hello, everyone, I hope you are all well.

My question is simple, so I hope it doesn't mean that I am, too, but I can't find an answer in my RoS book.

Is there a maximum proficiency short of 26? (It would cost 26 SAs to go beyond that, and you can only have 5 of 5 each, so....that's it).

I'm asking because I have a player who's riddle-seeking character has poured every SA into her sword-and-shield proficiency so far, raising it to 12, I think. This gives her a combat pool of 18, and I don't know if there's a cap.

I created a grizzled old mercenary NPC to give the players some new training (we've been playing wihtout maneuvers so far, we're adding them now that everyone's comfortable) and HIS best pool is 21, though he's got many proficiencies at between 17 and 20.

Am I missing something? The careful allocation of CP dice is lost when you've got too many...Or will the activation costs and other complexities of maneuvers take the wind out of their sails?

Thanks!

Jake has stated there is really no max. So it is Seneschal discretion how he he or she desires.

Methinks the cap is at 26. Which means he will utterly kick any ass available. He will also be able to go up against two or three opponents without making terrain rolls, which is kinda cool...

I am basically running off of the fact that the SA's themselves limit the CPs at , well, as everybody else has stated... 26. That is the number I am running with. After that the only real way to improve is to work on the Reflex Stat. So imagine, a 26CP, a 10 Ref and 25SA points running all at once? Youch.

I do have a few other notes for my game though. For those of you who are scholars of "Kunst die Fechten" (I hope I spelled that right) there are levels of achievement, kind of like the belts of Oriental Martial Arts. You start as a Recruit and move on up. These are based on the titles I have heard referred to in various paraphrases of historical texts (NOT direct quotes). As I study the German Schools (Lichtenauer, Doebringer, Tallhoffer unt alles) I use the titles for them translated loosely except for Meister... which would easily be replaced with the word Maestro for our illustrious Italian brothers and sisters in arms. In a game, I think that anybody who is a free provost or better would be able to instruct in exchange for (a LOT of) money.

Title CP
Recruit - 0-2
Scholar - 3-8
Free Scholar - 9-12
Provost - 13-15
Free Provost - 16-19
Meister - 20+

I once had my GM throw a villain at my character with a cp of 60. It sucked.

Your numbers look fine to me, Salamander, but here's a link to what I've been using as GM to describe PC's and NPC's ability in a weapon proficiency to my players.

I'll bet it didn't suck for long, fortunately.

Me: I'll throw 14 dice into a cut to zone 4! Ha, take that!
GM: Ok, he counters with 45 dice.
Me: *bleed* *die*

Thanks for the link. I have to say that Jake and I do share a lot of the same opinion except where the top end lies... But that is just because I am an egoist and would figure myself to have a 4 or 5 CP... :D
