Music for Indie RPGs
Hey,
I just thought I'd throw this in and see if anyone would respond. I'm a music producer, lover of RPGs and I was hoping to combine the two. I'd really love to be involved in the making of an Indie RPG, on the music side of things, and I guess on the sound side as well. Most of the stuff I tend to write is dark down-tempo type of stuff, so I'm guessing that I would be best suited to doing a futuristic type RPG.
If anyone is looking for someone to do music for their project, please feel free to get in touch with me and we can see if things could work.
take care
dan

Welcome to the Forge!
Unfortunately, what's written and talked about here is the more traditional form of roleplaying; tabletop roleplaying, a la Dungeons & Dragons (to cite only the most prominent example). Not a medium typically paired with music.
..on the other hand, I always make sure music features pretty prominently in my tabletop gaming, and pairing music with a roleplaying game - getting setting- and theme-appropriate music on a CD in the back of the book, for example - is definitely something I'd pay money for. I know that this was done with Talislanta, and I really enjoyed it.
So, while you might have come fishing in the wrong spot, I hope you catch something anyway. =)

Hey,
Thanks for not flaming the noob! I've just been surfing around the net looking for independant CRPGs to work on, did a couple of indie movies that way, so I though I'd look for RPGs to get in on.
So, sorry for posting in the wrong place. If you are ever getting together a table top campaign that could benefit from some electronic ambience, gimme a shout. I'd be more than happy to try something new for fun :).
Later.

No dude! This looks like the right place for you- You're looking to write background/theme/soundtrack music for tabletop RPGs, right? And looking for folks interested in that sort of thing? Well, this the very place for that sort of thing!
Maybe Anon was thrown off, cause it's very rare that a game have a soundtrack (I can only think of a few: Deadlands, Dread, Fading Suns). Interestingly enough, I'm looking to release a soundtrack with my game as well (in the middle of writing, now, no time to hit the Acid studio to lay out the tracks), and think that it's a great idea, as long as the music is fun, interesting, and well-produced.
Personally, I'm going for half drum and bass, half minimal compositions ala Phillip Glass. I doubt too many folks will be keeping it on their regular rotation in their CD player, but I hope to make it fit with the game anyway, to use as BGM for battles, etc.
Good luck, man!

are you doing the entire soundtrack yourself, or are you looking for submissions? I could help out with the mimimalist stuff. I just finished performing at the Northern California Experimental Music Festival and released another track on the yearly compilation CD. (you can hear the tracks I submitted in 2000 and 2001 on my website. hmmm, I need to update some more, apparently...) NoiseFest is part of the reason I haven't been around lately -- far too much to do! also, I still have a couple other projects demanding my time...

Hey dude! Sorry to reply so late- Been busy as hell at work.
Anyway, to publicly strike up some interest here, and to give you a reply: Actually, I'm going to go with one of my good bros out in Japan. He has his own music studio and is releasing CDs, etc. David Gann. Good stuff.
Also, I'm getting more and more into minimal lately: I scoped your sites but couldn't find any samples, MP3 or otherwise. Would you mind PMing me with perhaps a link to a sample or two? I'd love to check out your chops!
