I got my copy of Universalis on Saturday and want to try it first time on our school-gaming-day.

My question for some experienced players: How many players would you suggest should take part in a Univeralis game?

Maximum?

Minimum?

The minimum that I would recommend would be three people.

I've played with only two, and it works, but its harder. The game stuttered a lot depending on if we had ideas.

We had a session with three people (one who had never role-played) and it ran much nicer. The extra brain in the game helps!

Maximum? Hmm... that's really a judgement call.

I'd be inclined to stop at 6 myself, but that's mostly because I do a lot of the record keeping for the games.

Much more than 6 and I can see the game devolving into some bored players, who hang back, and some engaged players who Interrupt a lot.

But there may be others who've played with large groups.

I think quite some time ago, someone was going to try the game with a classroom sized group of kids ...

Those sound like good limits, and match other observations made previously. I'd say that four is about optimum.
