half-swording and doppelhander question

Q: Why are there fixed ATN & DTN for halfswording? , somehow a longsword and a Doppelhander, is now equal in hitting, but the doppelhander just gives more damage. weird......

Q: PAGE 252: doppelhander intry.
Two profiles, one of them with an*.....please help, are there actually who ways kinds of doppelhander, or is that two ways of using it, like the text decripes, but what is the catch with the*?

This is actually one answer. Longswords, bastard swords, and other "normal" swords use half-swording stats from the maneuver. Doppelhanders use the * entry when half swording, not the modified stats in the maneuver listing.

I have asked this in another thread, but if you cannot swing when half-swording, why are there then a CUT profile, under the specific doppelhander-half sword profile?

You can definitely swing the blade while half-swording. Both the tip and the hilt are fine and dandy for slamming into someone's face. There was even a blow called the Murder stroke that involved dropping the hand from the hile and really launching the hilt and the crossguard like a hammer at the opponent.

Doppelhanders, due to the "second" grip and longer blade, are more polearms than swords in use. They can still chop just fine. It's the shorter swords- great and long, where you grab the blade near to the point, and hold the edge, not a second hilt of sorts.
