Title: [DitV] Stupidly detail-picky fallout question Post by: Doyce on September 18, 2004, 10:18:43 PM Preface: got the book -- friggin' love the book. Color tone of following questions with that knowledge.
--- K, in both the short- and long-term fallout lists, the first choice given is: - Subtract 1 from one of your character's Stats. Lovely. Peachy. One what? I would, of course, assume "1d", except that a few lines down, we read "Subtract 1d from an existing d6+ trait or relationship", and I think "WHY did he bother to say 1d there, but not 1d up above? Why is the wording different?" The only reason I can think of is that the first one means "one something-else." (And, come to that, why "subtract 1d from an existing d6+ trait"? Couldn't a 2d4 Trait be dropped to 1d4? What's the purpose of that restriction? I ask for better understanding.) 2) "Bad" Fallout lets you add d4s, not subtract 'em. I'm glad you got - and like - the book! -Vincent Title: [DitV] Stupidly detail-picky fallout question Post by: Doyce on September 19, 2004, 07:40:34 AM 1) So, just to test my understanding: those two choices under bad Fallout could actually be one single option on the list that reads: "Subtract 1d from one of your character's Stats, d6+ Traits, or d6+ Relationships."
Which, granted, is an uglier sentence, but essentially correct? 2) Duh. Obviously, when you say it like that. d4's = complications, so of course bad follow-out = more complications, not less. And... liked it? First thing I read from the book wasn't even in it, it was in those reference sheets: "Roll dice or say yes." Jumped out at me like a mugger. Things just got more interesting from there.[/i] Title: [DitV] Stupidly detail-picky fallout question Post by: lumpley on September 19, 2004, 08:24:50 AM Exactly. You have it.
