An alternate skill system

An optional suggestion for those who don't like the lower-SR-is-better system....
Instead of getting a numerical SR, skills (which now come in three types, Easy, Average and Hard) are ranked in seven levels. Each level is named, and carries a set modifier to a Stat, which differs for each type of skill:
Unskilled
- Easy 0, Average -2, Hard -4/All (Equivalent to old SRs 10-13)
Novice
- Easy +1, Average 0, Hard -2 (Equivalent to SR 9)
Apprentice
- Easy +2, Average +1, Hard 0 (Equivalent to SR 8)
Journeyman
- Easy +3, Average +2, Hard +1 (Equals SR 7)
Adept
- Easy +4, Average +3, Hard +2 (Equals SR 6)
Master
- Easy +5, Average +4, Hard +3 (Equals SRs 4-5)
Grandmaster
- Easy +6, Average +5, Hard +4 (Equals SR 3)
Easy skills are those which default to 10, Average to 13, and Hard skills are those with no default.
When you make a roll, say of AG/Acrobat, you modify the Stat by the appropriate skill: if you are a Journeyman Acrobat (a Hard skill), you get +1 to your AG score for the roll. TN is now set appropriate to the task, rather than to an SR.
Thoughts?
