Um,
How do you guys do that cool thing where a long string of alphanumeric characters becomes the word "here", or "the name of the thread I'm linking to"?
Thanks,
Christopher

Well, an explanation of the BBCode is like on the posting page, and you can find it
here
The info you need from that page:
Quote
Linking to another site
phpBB BBCode supports a number of ways of creating URIs, Uniform Resource Indicators better known as URLs.
[*]The first of these uses the
url=][/url]
tag; whatever you type after the = sign will cause the contents of that tag to act as a URL. For example, to link to phpBB.com you could use:
url=http://www.phpbb.com/]
Visit phpBB!
[/url]
This would generate the following link,
Visit phpBB!
You will notice the link opens in a new window so the user can continue browsing the forums if they wish.[/list:u]
NOTE I left the "
[
" off of the example tags in
bold
so it won't get translated into the links, which would be silly since you couldn't see them.

Actually, when you're typeing a reply, just mouse over the URL button at the top. It will give you the formatting code for both methods.

This particular board also supports HTML coding of links; that means you can type < a href="
http://www.mjyoung.net/publish
" >Books by the Author< /a > and have it show up as
http://www.mjyoung.net/publish/
">Books by the Author (but you have to take out those extra spaces between the brackets and the characters for it to work).
