Title: Carnivals in OctaNe.
Post by: Colin Chapman on March 01, 2003, 09:10:40 AM
Hey,

I was just thinking that a wandering Carnival would fit OctaNe brilliantly. It'd have that entire freaky, weird, trash culture vibe.
I can see it now: mutant hot dogs vendors selling literal hot dogs ("D'ya want mustid on yer mongrel?"), freak show mutants so twisted they make the dog-headed boy and bearded lady feel positively normal, strong men so powerful they bench press cars, the usual Freaks wandering pierced with an entire arsenal of sharp pointy objects, folks being entertained by the fire-breathing mutant, killah klowns performing gladiatorial events in the Big Top, etc. Heck, you could even combine it with a monster truck rally: a rally between insane smartcar pickups.

Just some thoughts.

Colin, definitely.

My earlier games share octaNe's fascination with clowns, freaks, carnivals and circuses (Clown Cops, CircusPunk 2020, the description of FunLand from Pumpin Town RPG). One of my early RPG ideas (before this here Internet thing was around) was a riff on Vampire called "Klown."

A "Carnival of Carnage" Playset would be fun. :)
