Character Artwork for Iconia and Darkness Unleashed

Quite some time ago, I was thinking of ways to make the artwork more flavorful for the characters section of the two sourcebooks.  Here are my ideas;

For the Dark Brigade, we're probably going with the classic file card approach.  Each character will have his or her own file card (similar to those found on the back of the action figure packages of the 1980s).  The pic will be imbedded (sp?) in the file card itself.

With Warriors of the Cosmos, I figured on having each character be represented by its own action figure (still in the package).  Of course, this will all be done via artwork (i.e., I won't be doing any actual customized action figures).  This could be fun because we can have classic blurbs right on the "packages", in huge colorful fonts ("With Super Action-Punch Feature!" or "Push Button for Glowing Eyes!").

Anyway, enough babbling from me.  :)

When I saw the subject line I immediately thought it should have something to do with the action figures. Go with it.

(I should ask whether you ever read //www.x-entertainment.com- there's a good article buried somewhere in the back about the G.I. Joe file cards.)

I've not delved much into X-Entertainment.  I just now checked out the site but couldn't find a search feature.  Any clue what archive (roughly) the article might be found in?

Found it- http://www.x-entertainment.com/messages/347.html. Some entertaining commentary there.

I just know I'll have to write up the stats for a "Colonel Courage"-type PC someday.

That was hilarious!  Battle Shirt indeed.  Uggggh!

Of course, the file cards the author was spoofing were the later ones.  The earlier file cards (1982-1989 or so) were usually very good.  I believe Larry Hama wrote most of them.

There's cheesy, and then there's CHEESY.

Wow, thanks for "101 Ways NOT To Write A Native American Character"... :-)

Hey! Mine didn't come with a mini-comic! I got gipped! :)

Seriously though - that is pretty darn cool. I imagined his pincers to be bigger but it's still awesome.

I had so much fun with the first two, I had to do one more.  The artwork is a bit crap, but it was fun nonetheless...

...alright, I'll stop harrassing you with these now... :)

Very neat indeed. Looking forward to Nekrottus, I've had a hard time getting a good picture of him in my mind...

Hey gang, Josh D here, I've done a bunch of artwork for both Dark Brigade and Iconia, but since Cynthia went Stealth Mode, I haven't been certain as to where to send the pages. Could someone drop me a line or post where to send everything? Thanks.

For the moment, send anything email-able to spectrum@spectrumgamestudios.com.  Last word I've heard is that beginning of August things should be back to normal, and Cindi should have a mailing address for you then.

In theory.  :-)

Thanks Ed, unfortunately I'm stuck at snail-mail mode for the time being. But, if that changes I'll email for certain. Mad props on those action figures too Erik!
