Hidden Flaws

Just a quick thought...
Has anyone ever thought about doing the flaws such that a player might not know what they all are? That is, the player selects the merits he wants, then some or all of the flaws are selected semi-randomly by the seneschal. While this wouldn't work for all of the flaws, it might be interesting for some of them--learning the hard way about enmities, various weaknesses, etc. could be interesting (provided everyone trusts the seneschal and he "plays fair"). Unfortunately, I don't have my TROS book here at work, so I can't come up with any concrete examples off the top of my head.

In one particular style of Rolemaster Standard System character creation, players get a number of choices - randomly roll a good thing, randomly roll a bad thing, choose a good thing, choose a bad thing. Choice is more expensive than a random roll.
I wouldn't be entirely against the idea of something like this in TRoS. Just to toss out some random ideas:
1. A minor gift can be made into a major gift if the player lets the GM choose a minor flaw for the character.
2. A new major gift can be taken if the player lets the GM choose a major flaw for the character (or two minor flaws).
3. A new minor gift can be taken if the player lets the GM choose a minor flaw for the character.

Brian,
While your enthusiasm is great, please don't ask for an illegal copyright breach on the forum. OFF forum, do whatever you want, but on here it's best to avoid any kind of legal hassles.
Nobody answer his question on forum please. Should you choose to do things via email, then we know nothing about it and can say <Sgt Schultz>I see Noooothiiiiing</sgt Schultz> if asked.
Thanks,
Brian.

I also like the random thing. as well as the increasing of a gift via the introduction of an additional flaw to counter-act that gift in the equivalent fashion.. i.e. they'd cancel each other out. This has been an idea pondered about by me and a few players I game with.. though not all of us feel the same way. The key difference in this version though is seneschal's choice. It can result in alot of fun, and ultimately adds to the plot.. especially when the player is oblivious to what kind of flaw the seneschal chose. If a bad reputation flaw was picked, and the character suddenly finds himself amidst a lynch mob.. it leaves the character thinking 'what the hell did I do?!' and this becomes something to investigate, though it would most likely be revealed to aforementioned character..it also makes that character seek to clear his/her name if they were framed..or to outright fight for their lives.
I wondering if this would ever be something that my seneschal would be interested in, given his narrativist style and the depth already to his plots...adding this would just be additional icing on the cake.
