Combat Sim vs. Book

Ive noticed that the combat simulator has quite a few different rules than the book, and i was wondering if the new rules from the combat sim represent an update from the book.

One particular example is that is you are dressed in full plate without a helm in the combat sim, then the cp penalty is -4 instead of -3.  Which one should i use?

Also, one other question.  I was reading through some of the forum directory posts, and i came accross some references to the updated ROS book.  I was gone from the forums for a while, so is there a second book in printing that has any sort of significant updates to it?
