Hello,

I'm considering developing my very sketchy game design Zero at the Bone into a full-blown game for release next year.

To do this, I'm going to have to learn a lot more about life in middle and eastern Europe in the middle 1960s through the late 70s, about spy fiction of the LeCarre stripe, and about the Berlin Wall specifically. I have a good grasp of modern history as a foundation, but what I need are details, events, and concrete dangers.

Are there any Cold War buffs out there who can help me? I'll learn better through dialogue and specific text references than through running Google and flailing around.

If you can help, please contact me privately at sorcerer@sorcerer-rpg.com.

Best,
Ron

Ron,

Ahh, history...  I always wanted to put together a Cold War Era spy thriller.  Here are some links from my initial research I made...

Cold War International History Project

Cold War Wiki

Cold War Bibliography

I've also got some books at home and know a descent amount about the Cold War.  My dad reads/read a ton about it and he sends me books when he is done with them.

Conspiracy of Shadows: Revised Edition
Everything about the game, from the mechanics, to the artwork, to the layout just screams creepy, creepy, creepy at me. I love it.

Ron,

It's been a while. I don't have any new leads on Cold War info, but I'm still up for any illustration work you might have available. Get in touch if you need anything. Be sure to double check my contact info, it may have changed. Talk to you later.

Gahhh! Christian, I was just rummaging through emails to see if we could re-establish contact for this project. I still think you're the #1 artist for the job.

Keith, great refs! I'll be in touch by email.

Ron,

An excellent reference book for all things spy-related is:

Spy Book: The Encyclopedia of Espionage
by Norman Polmar and Thomas B. Allen

It covers all eras and is full of all kinds of evocative, obscure entries.

Here's a link to it at Amazon (cheap & used!)

Good luck.  I look forward to the card diagrams...
