Bein' a Dude!
Basic Premise:
There's a fleet of starships that landed on some alien planet slated for colonization. For some reason the only crew alve are 14-18 year old girls. The ship recorded an emergency message from the captain, who tells them that for the best chance for survival, it'd be best for them to adpopt a masculine identity.
They're told the way to a 4 page booklet on how to do so, which includes a merit-badge-earning system. Whoever aquires the most Merit badges after a pre-set time has first call on the rations.
The game follows around a group of the girls that really want those rations.
The basic flow of play is, in exploring the outland a player declares something that they want to get a merit badge over, like Competetion, Unnessecary Violence, Porking Chicks or Not Asking for Directions. The GM than asks for a base amount of Risk dice committed to represent what can go wrong with a players basic attempt to get that badge.
After that, all the other players have the option of competeting to get that badge instead, which involves describing how they go one step further, and than they bet more risk dice. Play continues until all players are happy with who's set to get the badge.
The person who bet the most risk dice, rolls an attribuite(Physical, Social or mental, I'm thinking) against that many dice to avoid negative consequences(Diminishing of the attribuites) However poorly they rolled, they describe what the negative consequences were for them. In any case, they get the merit badge, even if its dedicated to them post-humously.
There's also some way to rebel against the system, but I don't really have any ideas for how that works.
-----------
Some basic questions would be: Do you think that the outline presented would encourage the kind of play I'm looking for? Which would be described as a darkly humourous take on junior high in space.
