I really like the explanation on how starting resources are based on player's choice, and how the resource mechanic in-game is made to resolve conflicts. Very nice, and looking forward to reading the game myself.

But of course.  That's basically what I meant by "all of the nice chewy goodness that the resource system brings to acquiring that gear actually gets built into the character."
