Hiya,

Troy, unfortunately you're just confusing yourself. People often miss the point that who's playing which character, in the theory, is entirely irrelevant to Stances. You might have to chew on that one for a while; most people do.

For instance, when I make a suggestion to you about how to play your character's action, and you agree and play the character that way, then I did not go into (for instance) Director Stance. We both played the character, and we both utilized Author and/or Actor Stance to do it.

Also for instance, in play with traditional GM/player roles, the GM often takes Director Stance toward the player-characters and Actor or Author Stance toward his NPCs (the ones who aren't just furniture, anyway).

Best,
Ron

So player-characters should be seen as more of a comunal thing, rather than personal property, right?  So using one's resources to affect your character, another's character, or all the characters is merely switching seats at the table for a moment and not a whole new stance shift.  If that is true, than I can see how what we're describing would fall into Director Stance more often than not.

However, I do believe this thread has sparked a creative idea in me, and I'll have to get to work on it.  Thanks Ron, especially for that little bit about the GM's stance.  That cleared up a lot for me.

Peace,
