Heya,

I am in the midst of revising Cutthroat.  You can download the origonal here.

In his comments in the origonal thread, Ron wrote this:

Actually, I'm thinking even more streamlined than that, Troy. I'm not saying GF status = biker status. I'm saying that girlfriends have no status. They don't use it and don't have it used against them, nothing.

Their actions, however, can affect the biker's use of his status.

Okay, that's cool.  Does that mean, however, that the "Approach" mechanic in the game needs to be tossed as well?  I am somewhat reluctant to let that go as it was one of the parts of the game I enjoyed most as I designed.  I will admit that during playtesting it was not played up by my local group like I had liked.  They were reluctant to really get into the role of the Girlfriend, and in the end it is just a simple contested roll anyway.  So I can see how its absence won't affect the game too awfully much, but still it added another facet to what can happen at a Rally.

Anyhow, I'd like some feedback from everyone on the Approach mechanic in Cutthroat.  Keep it?  Lose it?  Rework it?  And also, if you get a chance Ron, I'd really like you to elaborate on what you meant above.

Thanks,

-Troy

Troy, Troy, Troy ...

Keep the Approach. Keep its role during play. Don't change a damn thing about it ...

... except have the GF use something else to get the information. She has "no" Status. She'll have to use something else.

"Gee, Ron, what else could a biker chick use to winkle information out of a biker who's not her boyfriend?"

Imagine me looking at you over the tops of my glasses, without saying anything.

Best,
Ron
