Heya Forgers,
Just wanted you to be amongst the first to know, we've opened up the submission period for the 2006 ENnies. Hopefully having it open earlier than past years it will give publishers a chance to explore alternate shipping options. I'm going to be in charge again this year, and just wanted to remind you that if you have any questions or comments, I welcome feedback! So here's the official PR:
The Annual Gen Con / EN World RPG Awards (The ENnies) announce the opening of the submission period for the 2006 ENnies.
Details and a new entry form can be procured from the new web site at
http://www.enworld.org/ennies/
The ENnies are an annual fan-based celebration of excellence in tabletop roleplaying gaming, giving designers, writers and artists the recognition they deserve. It is a peoples' choice award, with the final winners voted upon by the gaming public. A panel of judges has already been selected, new staff are on board, and the return of last year's business manager Denise Robinson- all bode good tidings for the ENnies' 6th year, their 5th year at Gen Con.
Each year, a panel of 5 judges is chosen by the gaming public at EN World. Publishers submit 6 copies of their eligible products- one to each judge and one extra- during the submission period. The judges evaluate each product, then during the month of June announce five nominated products for each of the 17 categories. Votes from gamers are tabulated in July, and the results announced at a ceremony Friday evening (August 11th, 2006) at Gen Con Indy.
New this year, apart from the web site and some of the staff and judges:
-working towards moving the deadlines back this year, products released between June 1st 2005 and April 30 2006 will be accepted.
-new definitions for the Best Aid/Accessory Category: RPG miniatures are now eligible for entry. Books are not.
-the Best Electronic Product Category is now the Best Electronic Book Category.
-the Best Publisher Award is now exclusively a Fan's Choice Award. This will be voted upon before the other nominations are announced.
-fans or individual contributors to RPGs may now submit the products if the publisher agrees
-publishers who have already sent a review copy to an ENnies judge for review on ENWorld do not need to send an additional copy.
-$5/title entry fee for publishers shipping to the Submissions Coordinator. Publishers may choose to ship directly to each judge and waive the entry fee.

An ENnie vote has as much meaning as a dollar bill - that is, it's worth what you choose to value it at.
