Just when I thought I had everything in palce I stumbled upon this..(how do I get "Ron Edwards" into the quote headline?)
Quote
”The combat section in HB Sorc is much clearer than the old text. I think I'm just about there. One last thing I wonder: The rules seem to suggest that there are circumstances in which my victories this round count as damage this round and bonuses next round. Is that true always, sometimes or never?”
Always true. The victories of a successful roll apply to the action of a given round, for which they were rolled, and they may ALSO be rolled into bonuses for a subsequent roll, if the second action flows from the first in a causal way.
Is this how the law of currency works? -Victories can be used as bonuses to a related action but at the same time for determing some kind of consequence to it. I'm asking because I got the impression from the book that victories can be used as one of the above, not both. You sort of have to choose where your victories go.

Hi Peter,
The currency rule is just that:
- the number of victories apply:
1) imediately, to determine the result of the action,
2) are rolled as bonus dices in a following action
if
that action is a continuation of the first one or clearly benefit from the first one.
So, you
don't
have to choose between
now
and
later
. It's always apply
now
, and can be applied
later
(as bonus dices)
I hope it's clearer now.
Fabrice.

Hi Petter,
Fabrice is right. You can always rely on the victories of a successful roll to apply to the current problem. Those victories
may
be rolled into bonus dice for a future roll if the action involved is appropriate, but that is a completely independent issue.
Unfortunately, to be confusing just for a moment, all of this is tweaked by some combat options listed in Sorcerer & Sword. For purposes of the current discussion, which concerns Sorcerer basics so to speak, let's not get into that.
Best,
Ron
