Back in March Joe Prince released Contenders, the first Ronnies game to be published, and now I've got Best Friends for sale as a PDF. The print copy, fingers crossed, should be for sale at Gen Con too.

Here's the press release...

Best Friends RPG released by BoxNinja (RPGNow, 50 pp, $9.95)

Edinburgh, UK - July 28, 2006 - BoxNinja announces the release of "Best Friends" a "role-playing game about girlfriends and all their petty hatreds" designed for play between four or more friends.

Written and illustrated by Gregor Hutton (Frenzy, ERP, Ghostfighter) Best Friends bristles with dark humour and an impish tone.

Featuring an innovative group character creation system it requires only tokens, such as poker chips or shot glasses, to play. The simple rules are designed to get players telling stories of Best Friends and all their petty hatreds right from the start.

Equally adept for playing characters in crisis or angst-ridden teenagers Best Friends is illustrated throughout with devilishly stylish art, which gives it a quirky care-free feel.

The download retails for $9.95 and features:
  • 50-pp (1/2 Letter) richly linked PDF file
  • RTF file of the text
  • character sheet PDF
  • play sheet PDF
  • iconic wallpapers in two sizes (1024 x 768, 1280 x 824)

Hendrik Little says “Best Friends is one of the most genuinely innovative role-playing concepts I have come across in a considerable time.”

Nice work Gregor!

Any expansions in the pipeline?
Perhaps featuring alcoholic priests...

Yeah, Malcolm wants to do a Father Ted themed setting for the game (which he has coined Blessed Friends). If he does then I'll publish it for sure and do some art for it.

I have a few ideas for other settings, but they would have to be worthwhile and interesting rather than just a one-line gag strung out to blah pages of text. I guess if they get written they'll be a couple of bucks as PDFs.

I do want to do a Fantasy themed one though. We'll see.
