News About RPI

I just got a letter from RPI and "Alphagraphics", and I know a lot of us around here have used them and intend to use them in the future. So I thought I would post it here, omitting the superfluous pleasantries.
Quote
We are very pleased to announce that Alphagraphics has purchased the commercial business division of Reischling Press, Inc. (RPI)
... At Alphagraphics, we are committed to these same business principles as well as servicing a broader portfolio of print materials for our clients to leverage.
The transaction has closed with all production to be strategically transitioned to the Alphagraphics flagship print facility in downtown Seattle by October 1st. All key sales, customer service, and manufacturing employees involved in the production of your print materials have transferred to Alphagraphics. Current phone numbers and email addresses will automatically forward. ...
... The new company will continue to do business under the Alphagraphics name and we will continue to service the same markets, only now the combined capabilities set will include:
1. Digital Color and black only presses
2. Offset press: 28" five color Komori, 12x18 Heidelberg and Ryobi 2 color presses
3. Full compliment of bindery for publishing, marketing collateral, and corporate requirements
4. Letterhead, Envelopes, and other coporate stationary
5. Complete Mailing and fulfillment Services
6. Large Format printing and finishing
7. Marketing sundries
...

Reid Baker

I ... don't know whether to see this as a good or a bad thing. Mergers are mergers, and it's not necessarily a bad sign, but ... I don't know these new people.

That's pretty much how I felt. I was particularly concerned about the schizophrenic numbered list--didn't know what to make of it.

Well, to be fair, they're talking about the stuff they're
adding
to RPI's pre-existing capabilities. They're basically saying "Hey, it's the same guys you've been dealing with, just they've got different management and access to new toys. Here's the new toys, which are (yeah) a disconnected bunch, but all fun stuff if it happens to be the thing you needed that they couldn't do before."
