I had a very interesting experience playing TPK (nice acronym) with actual kids. You can read more here:

It was very interesting to me how little I missed Escalation. When I first read DitV, I was all "Yeah! That's cool!" when I read about Escalation. In TPK, with just having the one stat, you don't have Escalation, but I didn't miss it at all. It made me look back at our DitV campaign in a new light. I remember a number of Conflicts that went something like "We talk. I put a hand on his shoulder. I'm shooting at him. Ok, let's talk again." Which is cool in its own way, but sometimes it seemed clear that we were escalating in order to get dice, not necessarily in order to escalate.
