[Donjon] newbie question about PC death
«

Good afternoon,
So I finally grabbed Donjon. I like the perspective thus far although I will say that I haven't played yet. TSoY is next on the list along with Shock and Cold City but that's another topic all together.
This is a big forum especially since Donjon is... how old now? So if this question was covered "back in the day" please forgive me and point me in the right direction.
That being said I have one question:
It says PCs get killed by having zero
Flesh Wounds
and get
smashed
to fall unconscious where they are vulnerable. As I understand
smashed
it's when the NPC rolls a damage test against the PC and all of their dice come up as successes.
Doesn't this mean that the fewer dice the creature rolls the more likely it is to
smash
a PC? If the NPC only has one die to roll then it's far easier to have "all" dice come up higher than the opponent than if he had five dice, no?

That is true. Of course, the creature will need big dice in order to get the character down to 0 Flesh Wounds.
The humor in a giant creature beating your character to death with its massive toothed tentacles, and then killing you with a poke - or even better, with a foul phrase - is probably apparent.
