Since this is my first post, I'll go ahead and introduce myself.  My name is Kent Turner, and I'm an artist.
If you are looking for serious work, please take a look at my portfolio.  Note that I'm an artist not a programmer, so my portfolio has no bells and whistles- in fact it's just a humble Photobucket album.  I create art in the traditional way.  So if you're looking for anime style or a slick 3D look, then I am not for you.  If you want something classy and bold with a bit of a raw artistic edge, then I might be able to help you out.  My strong points are composition, color theory, and creature concepts.  My weak points (yes I'll admit I have them up front) are gadgetry and high tech artwork.  I specialize in horror style such as Lovecraftian creatures.

Password to the portfolio is "portfolio"

If you're interested shoot me a PM or an email and we can discuss your project.

Thanks everyone!

Cool stuff.

Are you willing to post your typical rate breakdown in this thread?
It might help potential clients.

Kent,

The cthulhoid chess set is awesome! Was it a commission? You know, with the right set of non-euclidian movement rules you could sell the hell out of a cthulhoid chess game.

And if you're doing anything with your Acts of Evil ashcan license, of course I'm curious and would love to hear about your plans

Thanks, Paul!  Nope, it wasn't a commission.  It was just an inspiration.  They sold very well for a few months, before the economy turned down back in March.  I hope to sell more now that Christmas is on the way and the economy seems to be turning back up a bit.  I could probably unload all I could make if I dropped the price, but I would be underselling myself at that point.  I'd rather sell none at all then do that.

Joepub, pricing is difficult to make a breakdown post about because there are sooo many variables; some increase and some decrease the final price.  I can give a sort of rough starting point though.  I typically start at $75 USD for a half page or less b/w illustration, and from there I plug in variables.  For multiple illustration projects the price will go down- so you would pay less per image for 10 illustrations than you would for 2 or 3 for instance.  For more complex images the price will go up.  For instance if the image requires a simple illustration of a single creature in a standard pose, this could be considered a fairly basic image.  If you want a dozen such creatures attacking a castle with hundreds of soldiers fending them off, then this would be a very complex image.  There are so many variables that it would be senseless for me to post them all here, but adding multiple characters to an image usually increases the price.  Adding color would also increase the price of the image, as would a larger than half-page image or a rushed deadline.  Also the cost varies depending on what sort of copyright use you would want to have over the final image- who owns rights to the image, limited or full copyrights- this can affect the price quite a bit actually.

Thanks for looking!
