Hey,
I recently came across your discussion of Tales ffrom the Floating
Vagabond on The Forge (I was looking online for a copy of the rule book
to buy, and found myself here) and I read many of the posts, yet they all seem to be
indifferent or even uninterested in doing what you are asking. As a game
designer myself (I've conceived so many thus far, you would weep at the
number) I too have been seeking a way to get these great ideas for games on
the market, simply to share them with the public at large. I have little
to nothing in the way of financial support, but as a fan of Tales, I
offer my creative skills as desingner and illustrator, as well as any
connections I may have to other game desingers in general. Believe me when
I say that there are numerous would be game designers out here with
good ideas that really need help getting on our feet, but just don't have
the connections that we need. If you need any ideas to help get
published, I'm willing to do what I can.

Hello,
Welcome to the Forge! I've split your post from the year-old thread,
Tales from the Floating Vagabond is looking for publishing partners
. There's a policy here about posting to older threads; it takes a bit of experience here to get used to it.
I've also moved you into the Connections forum, where it fits a little better. No big deal.
Best, Ron

Hi Richard,
I saw your post earlier, but was waiting for Ron to catch it. Policy, and all. I wanted to comment that what may have seemed like apathy really wasn't; There was some good advice in that thread for getting TFFV back into print.. But you've got to understand the culture of the Forge to really see it.
Y'see, the Forge is a community built around creator-owned, creator-published roleplaying games, so there's a pretty heavy vibe of individuality here. As the creator and the owner, Lee had the ability to fit in with the vision here, but his original request was basically asking the creator-owners here to invest, monetarily or otherwise, in a product not their own. There may be people interested in that, and if any of them were here, they probably contacted him privately. But for the most part, we're more interested in doing our own stuff, and helping anyone and everyone to do their own stuff as well, both with advice, references, commentary and feedback, and occasionally services like art and layout.
Which is where you might possibly be interested. You said:

That is exactly what the Forge is about. Bring your ideas here, post 'em in
First Thoughts
, and people will look over what you have, answer any questions, and ask some of their own to help you get your ideas into a more solid state. Once you've got something that's ready to play, get some playtesting done and post about it in
Playtesting
. If you want artists, editors or layout, check out the
Connections
forum. Finally, when you want to talk about publishing things like printing, binding, and advertising, then drop by
Publishing
.
In the meantime, check out other games in
Actual Play
and the individual publisher forums to see what sorts of things are done by designers around here, and read about past conversation about the theories of our shared hobby in the now-closed Theory forums.
The Forge community has a LOT to offer the serious designer and player.. And more than just a little to offer those of us who aren't yet as serious as we'd like to be, too.
