Hey guys.

in my primordia project, im thinking about having characters play in a game world, that diminishes constantly, much like michael ende the neverending story.

The gods of primordia, unable to stop the vanishing of the world intends to try and capture alien worlds. The gods can not themselves work outside their own world, but they can send envoys, if they are allowed so by the alien gods. The reason for this envoy however are of a dark nature, they need to take over the world, and combine the worlds thereby causing the worlds to melt together.

Now my question to all you talented guys are this.

How do you as an alien power, take over a world, only via the wits and talents of your envoys?

Still as an alien power, having taken over a world, how do you combine your world with the world of Primordia?

Cheers

One way would be an infection mechanic.  Each world/universe has its own rules and natural laws.  As the envoys infect the populace with ideas from their home world/universe, the rules bend, shift and eventually transform to the rules of the envoy's choosing (his/her home rules.)  As this continues, more and more of the "victim" world becomes part of the home world.

Why would the "victim" gods allow this?  Maybe it is the same mechanic that Primordia is suffering from:  Entropy/Rogue envoys/the Void is stealing away Primordia, and the other gods are eager to handle that fight somewhere other than home.

An infestation mechanic sounds like a good idea. and certainly something i havent thought about, thanks king.

The "victim" gods would never allow this. Which was actually part of my plan in the beginning, the envoys would need to run very low under the radar, in their attempt to steal the world. It makes sense that it actually could be the same infestation that primordia is suffering from.

one of my ideas was that the gods of primordia are not aware of what causes the shrinking of the world.if they know of the infestation mechanic, they would properly recognize it for what it is. Perhaps the effect is different from world to world, or perhaps the gods themselves are fighting in the dark here?

Hi there,

I don't know about anyone else reading your thoughts on this but, especially with King Turnip's idea of an infection mechanic thrown into the mix, I'm getting a very Burning Empires vibe, although with a role reversal aspect of the characters playing a Vaylen equivalent and the GM taking the side of the world that is being invaded.  I don't know if you've checked the game out or not but, if not, you might like to take a look at http://www.burningempires.com/.

Hey Geoff.

Thanks for the reference. its not completely what i want, but there are enough parralels in what ive read so far, to make it very interesting. I will surely read more into the Burning Empires, perhaps even buy the books and take it for a spin, to see if there are ideas and inspiration to had.

Thanks
Chris
