Hi everyone!

My name is Jason and i have been writting and playing rpgs for some 20 years. I am currently developing an mmorpg to rival some of the big boys. The dynamic is vast and incorporates many variables, some unique weapons and gameplay ideas, some new twists on plotline development and is fully dreamt up to be a major contender. I know i should start small and i have in many senses decided to undertake a major project with a minimal base of knowledge. This is what i have developed thus far...

-A large portion of flow charts for the complex questing, missions and dungeon crawls.
-A fully described detailed document of gameplay, character types, skills and background.
-Some art, including very basic weapon designs character models, maps and some terrain.
-Development notes on dynamics

This game will include a player versus player dynamic as well as player versus enviroment one, with many end-game ideas in the works. Instanced zones that spawn enemies based on previous adventuring, and battelfield play of mutli-optional character development choices. My vision includes joining many elements of current gameplay models as well as additional new ideas for models not yet attempted.

The business model includes up-front purchase with no-monthly fee (or a very minimal one) and includes charitable donations on profit overflow. A collabrative development cycle which could also include a homebase of developers willing to work from the comforts of thier own homes to further develop the game's changing dynamics and structure.

My ambitions in this project are large, but i would like to provide the world of creativity and open project development a chance to shine through thier talents and resources to make a ground-breaking game as well as a model for a community of like minded that are willing to support each other through thier craft.

Right now I'm very interested in discussing options and thoughts about willing partime pro-bono developers, game ideas, artists, story developers, network specialists and so on. Since i'm very new here i'd love to hear some thoughts about your endevours and experiences!

-Peace

i kinda think this forum is for the analog type of RPGs, but if you want advice on C-RPGs and/or mmorpgs. i would suggest you start reading up on design techniques, and learn the video game way of design, which include large design documents.

and heres a starting point for you,http://onrpg.com/games_categories/game-engines.html

cheers and good luck!
